The time has finally arrived, family weekend is upon us! While Kappa Alpha Theta has planned a number of exciting things to do, like touring the chapter room, bowling and brunch, there are many more things to do in St. Louis. Katie Lienemann wrote about her favorite places to go, so bring your family along and have a great weekend!

Here are some exciting places to go with family during the weekend. Each St. Louis neighborhood has a different character and is filled with many restaurant choices.
  • Central West End: Central West End is located on Lindell just west of SLU’s campus. This neighborhood is known for its charm, and is filled with unique restaurants and locally-owned businesses. Some popular spots are:
    • Mission Tacos: A wide variety of a-la-carte tacos. This is also very popular among the Thetas!
    • Coffee Cartel: This coffee shop is open 24 hours and serves casual lunch, dinner, and has a huge selection of coffee.
    • El Burro Loco: This Mexican restaurant not only has amazing Mexican food, but is also known for its authenticity and has a live mariachi band.
  • The Delmar Loop: The Loop is a vibrant area known for its nightlife and personality. Some of the notable restaurants are:
    • Salt and Smoke: This barbecue restaurant is known for its huge portions and it a perfect spot if you have a craving for barbecue.
    • Fitz’s: Fitz’s is a popular spot known for its root beer floats! It is also a great place to go if you have a little kids in the group, because they can watch root beer be made while waiting for their food.
  • Tower Grove: Tower Grove is just past SLU’s med campus and has tons of restaurants and coffee shops, and is also home to Tower Grove Park. Some of the best restaurant are:
    • Rooster: This is a trendy brunch location that perfect for a morning meal on the weekend, but it also offers lunch and dinner options.
    • Tree House: If you are looking for a vegetarian or vegan option, this is the place to go. Tree House also offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • Things to do:
    • Forest Park: Forest Park is home to the St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum, and the Saint Louis Zoo. These are all great places to explore because they are all free and well-suited for the warm weather expected this weekend.
    • The City Museum: This museum is more similar to a giant jungle gym for adults than a museum. Made of salvaged materials, you can climb around in this giant museum for hours, and only at a small price.
    • Walk through the Delmar Loop: Walking though the Loop is almost a guarantee that you will find something to do. In 6 blocks you will find something for everyone!
