Eta Omega participated this year by serving Urban Harvest St. Louis. This community garden is a local effort to bring fresh food to St. Louis; it was started in 2011 in order to develop a local food system. It brings fresh fruits and vegetables to people in the community who might not otherwise have access to them. Our members were able to aid this wonderful urban project by helping with the upkeep of the garden.
On October 24th, the women of Eta Omega also participated in Make A Difference Day, and every year, students at Saint Louis University participate in the Make A Difference Day project. The Make A Difference Day project was started 24 years ago and is a USA Today initiative. Saint Louis University had over 4,000 students involved this year. Thetas spent the day helping with the Revitalization 2000 project in The Ville neighborhood, which also serves as a community garden for the area. Claire Ramsey, a participant, states, “I really enjoyed today. It was a great opportunity to make a difference with my Theta sisters and to have a direct impact on an area that serves a deserving population. It gives them access to healthy, fresh vegetables, and an open space for children to play.”
