This past Saturday marked 5 months since members of the Eta Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta first came together for founding Bid Day!!
We have made great strides as a chapter to be known on campus and unite as sisters. To celebrate these accomplishments and broaden our sisterhood, over 80 members and new members traveled off campus on Saturday morning for our spring retreat. The fresh spring air prepared us for what was sure to be a turning point in our journey as a chapter.
For me personally, it was a turning point in understanding what our roles as sisters mean. “Supportive” is a word that was consistently used throughout the afternoon when describing how our sisterhood should be, what we want to represent on campus, and how we plan to grow as a chapter. It’s a simple word but its implications are deep. Support can mean helping a sister in need or just being a smiling face to look up to. We all want support from our sisters, but on Saturday afternoon we came to understand what it means to reciprocate that act.
The retreat showed me my sisters’ inner beauty and strength. They truly are all inspirations to me. I walked out of retreat more proud, inspired, and dedicated than ever to Kappa Alpha Theta. My soul is filled with whatever beautiful and infectious qualities our chapter radiates and I could not be happier.
To my sisters: I want to see each and every one of you be happy every single day. I want to help (or at least witness) your achievements and I want to help you through your challenges. I accept you for your flaws because I know you accept me for mine. That is what sisterhood means to me.
I said it a million times already, but thank you all again for coming and making retreat such a success!! I hope you had a positive experience on Saturday as well. I hope you feel closer to your sisters, proud of your sorority, and empowered to achieve your greatest dreams.

SLU Theta was delighted this Valentine’s Day after selling over 500 Valentine carnations and raising over $1,500.00 during our first philanthropy week ever! We were also fortunate to have CASA volunteer, Jan Huneke, come speak about her experiences as a CASA and everything it means to her. These two events made us happier than 12 dozen rose bouquets on February 14th!
Throughout our philanthropy week, we felt the Theta love from other Greek organizations as they gave us shout outs on social media and encouraged members to support us! We are so grateful that we have been welcomed to SLU’s campus with open arms. Not only was our philanthropy week centered around Valentine’s Day but we had a joint sisterhood event with Kappa Delta themed “Cupcakes and Valentines”allowing us to experience yet again the strength of our Panhellenic community.
Our signature philanthropy event is coming up in April - be on the lookout for more information!
We hope everybody else had a perfect February 14th spent with chocolate and loved ones!
We are the Eta Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Saint Louis University. We were established on November 9th, 2013. We have over 180 wonderful sisters that are alike in many ways but all with unique interests. Our blog will highlight many of these.
