With spring break having just passed us here at SLU, the Eta Omega chapter is preparing for an exciting upcoming couple of weeks. Over break, many of our sisters were able to enjoy their time off by traveling together, visiting family, or just relaxing away from the stresses of school. Some traveled to Gulf Shores, some to California, and some even farther! At the end of the day, however, it’s nice to be back together on campus, gearing up for the next couple of weeks before Easter Break. A lot has happened since we’ve been back, but there is even more to come!
Theta held its second social event of the semester this past Saturday night, March 21st! The theme of the event was “KATucky Derby” and was a great excuse to break out some spring dresses and enjoy the St. Louis weather! It was a fun night of dancing and socializing, and served as a great opportunity for our members to catch up with each other after their spring breaks!
The Scholarship Banquet was held on Sunday, March 22nd at 3pm in the Sinquefield Stateroom in DuBourg Hall. The banquet honored several Thetas for academic excellence and achievement this past year, and women who achieved a 4.0 GPA were presented with scholarship pearls to add to their badges. We are so proud of our many women who continue to work towards scholarship as our highest aim!
The Eta Omega chapter is also excited to announce that we have partnered with SLU Panhellenic to co-host a presentation by Dr. Lori Hart this Wednesday, March 25th at 7pm in the Wool Ballrooms! Dr. Hart is an engaging speaker who will be addressing gender stereotypes and sharing her knowledge on “Everything You Always Wanted to Know about the Opposite Sex” in her keynote address. All are welcome to attend!
And finally, we are all looking forward to this upcoming weekend, March 27th-29th, as we will be hosting a Theta Family Weekend event for all of our members and their loved ones. The weekend will consist of a chapter room “open house” on Friday, March 27th, during which guests Saturday, March 28th, where women can enjoy food and conversation with their families as a few members speak about their Theta experiences; and the grand finale of the weekend will certainly be our signature philanthropy event, “Cakes for CASA,” on Sunday, March 29th, at which we will be selling all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts to the entire SLU community. All proceeds from the event will benefit the local St. Louis CASA chapter, Voices for Children. We are looking forward to these upcoming events, and hope to see you there!
We are the Eta Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Saint Louis University. We were established on November 9th, 2013. We have over 180 wonderful sisters that are alike in many ways but all with unique interests. Our blog will highlight many of these.
