Maggie Kroeff is a rising sophomore from Carmel, Indiana. She is majoring in Public Health and will be our Facilities Management Director for the coming school year. Here's Maggie's Theta story:
"I still remember bid day like it was yesterday. I opened my bid and I remember a wide smile cracking across my face as the shiny black and gold crest and a card with my name on it welcomed me to a sisterhood that would change my freshman year and my life forever. From bid day to sisterhoods, initiation to events, every step on my Theta journey has made me into a better student, friend, and sister. This year was all about change for me. I came to a school hundreds of miles from home, knowing virtually no one. I was nervous about my major, worried about classes, and scared about making friends. Finding a home in Theta was the best thing I could have asked for. I met so many amazing girls in my pledge class as well as sophomores, juniors, and seniors who became amazing mentors to me. These girls grew from strangers to friends within a matter of weeks and a whole school year later I'm lucky enough to call a few of them my best friends. Honestly, I can't imagine what this year would have been like without Theta and I can't imagine what I'm going to do all summer without my sisters. Looking back on this year, so many of my best memories involved Theta. From road tripping to Creve Coeur, to singing along to Mamma Mia, to playing with conversation balls on retreat, my sisters have never failed to put a smile on my face. I cannot put into words how grateful I am that Kappa Alpha Theta was a huge part in my freshman year and I cannot wait for the next three years."
Callie Hadobas is from Fort Worth, Texas and recently graduated from Saint Louis University with a major in Elementary Education. During her time at SLU she also participated in Division I Track and Field and served as our event director throughout the fall semester of 2015 and our 2014-15 Chief Panhellenic Officer. After graduation, she plans on teaching the 5th grade in St. Louis! Here is Callie's Theta experience:
"As my senior year is coming to an end, I’ve had time to look back on my last year in Theta and how incredible it was. I knew this was going to be a hard year for me in general with thinking about the next steps in my life, but I knew that Theta was going to be there every step of the way. During the beginning of the year, I did not at first realize that it would be my last recruitment or my last sisterhood retreat. But as the year progressed, I began to notice that I was going to have many more “lasts” in Theta. Reflecting on my whole experience with Theta, I would not have changed anything. From becoming a charter member to going through senior service, I am so grateful for all of the memories and life-long friendships Theta has given me. Senior year has been so special because it has allowed me to never take any of my time left it Theta for granted and shown me how much I will be missed by my sisters. Although I will have to say goodbye to SLU, I will never have to for Theta because Theta is for a lifetime, and it will always be apart of my life, forever."
We are the Eta Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Saint Louis University. We were established on November 9th, 2013. We have over 180 wonderful sisters that are alike in many ways but all with unique interests. Our blog will highlight many of these.
